加中关系：互不批对方记者签证申请

据《环球邮报》(Globe and Mail) 报道，新华社驻渥太华记者李保东早在2018年5月底就申请续签其访问者居留许可（visitor record），到现在仍未获批。这并不妨碍他继续以外国媒体记者的身份在加拿大工作，但没有合法居留身份意味着他无法自由出入加拿大。他的妻子也面临同样问题。

另一方面，加拿大广播公司法语部（Radio-Canada）在2018年6月为一个摄影师向中方申请记者签证，也是至今仍在等待中。一位公司发言人说，他们的驻北京记者的电视报道因此受到了影响。
李保东说他不知道两件事是否有关联。但是移民律师库兰（Richard Kurland）在接受《环球邮报》采访时说，他认为这两件事从外交关系层面上来说是联系在一起的。不过李保东至少可以向加拿大联邦法院起诉加拿大政府。
